The Great Pyramids of Giza are part of the Ancient Egyptian Giza Necropolis archaeological site on the Giza Plateau, on the outskirts of modern-day Cairo, Egypt. The Pyramids are thought to have been constructed as the final resting place of three Pharaohs who ruled Ancient Egypt: Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. All three were Pharaohs of the Fourth Dynasty (c. 2613 to 2494 BC), the ‘Golden Age’ of the Old Kingdom.
